Mandy Wedow

Mandy Wedow (born May 13, 1987 ) is a German weightlifter .

Life

Mandy Wedow lives in Heidelberg and trains in Leimen and starts in the 69 kg and from 2009 mainly in the 75 kg class. At the European Youth Championships from 2002 to 2004 she finished second to sixth, in 2006 she was Junior European Champion, in 2007 she was second in a duel at the Junior European Championships. In 2009 she started at the U23 European Championships and reached 4th place in the duel in the 75 kg class and in the individual disciplines with 204 kg (= 91 kg + 113 kg). At the European Championships (senior citizens) she started in the 69 kg class in 2008 and 2009 and achieved exactly the same result with 205 kg (= 94 kg + 111 kg) and also came 7th. At the 2010 World Championships, she increased in the 75 kg class to 211 kg (= 97 kg + 114 kg) in a total of only three valid attempts, but that only meant 22nd place in the duel ranking. At the 2011 World Championships it increased to 217 kg (= 98 kg + 119 kg) and ranked 18th in the overall ranking; in the process, she improved her personal best in pushing.

She achieved her best international placement at the European Championships on April 9, 2012 with 96 kg + 122 kg = 218 kg, which means fifth places in each case. At the EM 2013 she was fifth in the overall ranking with 98 kg + 116 kg = 214 kg.

Her personal best in snatching the 75 kg class is 100 kg and was achieved on May 20, 2006 in Görlitz. She still holds (as of October 2010) the German junior records in the 69 and 75 kg class in snatching and in the duel.
