Bamboo Shoot Pagoda

The so-called bamboo shoots Pagoda (Engl. Bamboo Shoots Pagodas ) or Manfeilong Pagoda ( Chinese  曼飞龙塔 , pinyin Manfeilong tǎ ) is a Hinayana -buddhistische pagodas group of the Diamond Throne Pagoda type in Manfeilong the greater community Menglong of Jinghong , the capital of the Autonomous district Xishuangbanna of Dai in the Chinese province of Yunnan . It was built in 565 according to the Dai calendar (i.e. in 1204).

The central pagoda in the shape of a lotus flower is surrounded by eight smaller pagodas. From a distance, the group of buildings looks like bamboo shoots sprouting in a bamboo thicket in spring, hence their name.

The pagoda has been on the list of monuments of the People's Republic of China (3-157) since 1988 .
