Manfred Beck (born March 22, 1940 in fire ) is a former Austrian politician ( FPÖ ) and state official. From 1994 to 2004 he was a member of the Vorarlberg state parliament .

education and profession

Beck first attended elementary school in his native Brand and then moved to the Bludenz Realgymnasium. In 1959 he passed his Matura in Bludenz and then began studying civil engineering at the Graz University of Technology . In 1967 he completed his studies with the academic degree Dipl.-Ing. in Graz. After completing his studies, he joined the state of Vorarlberg in 1968 and subsequently worked as a state official at the state road construction office in Feldkirch . In 1969 he did his military service. Beck subsequently rose to become the construction division manager of the Bludenz district and was head of the road construction department in Feldkirch from 1992 until his retirement in 2001.

Politics and functions

Beck was elected a member of the Brand Municipal Council in 1975 and was a member of the municipal council until 1992. From 1985 to 1987 he was the deputy mayor of the community of Brand and directed the affairs of the community between 1988 and 1992 as mayor. Beck joined the Freedom Party of Austria in 1994 and represented the FPÖ as a member of the Bludenz constituency from October 4, 1994 to October 4, 2004 in the Vorarlberg state parliament. He held the position of area spokesman for transport as well as agriculture and forestry in the FPÖ state parliament club and was a member of the legal committee, member of the economics committee, member of the agricultural committee, member or chairman of the energy policy committee and, at times, deputy chairman of the environmental committee.

Beck was active within the party as a member of the district party leadership of the FPÖ Bludenz and from 1994 to 2004 as a member of the state party leadership of the FPÖ Vorarlberg. In 2005 he founded the citizens' list "Mitanand für Brand". He represented them from 2005 to 2008 in the town council of Brand.

In addition to his political mandates, Beck was the local representative of the community of Brand in the Vorarlberg Walser Association and from 1999 to 2007 chairman of the Vorarlberger Seniorenring. He was also involved in 1959 as a founding member of the Brand Mountain Rescue, played the trumpet in the Brand brass band and was chairman of the Brand costume club and chairman of the Brand Ski Club. He was also active as a committee member of the Brand Tennis Club.

Private

Manfred Beck was born as the son of the post office clerk and hotelier Othmar Beck and his wife Irma Beck. He married in 1964 and had three children between 1966 and 1978.
