Hell's Angels '70 (OT: Hell's Angels '69 , also: Hell's Angels 70 - motorcycle rockers strike and Hells Angels - horror trip with 100 hp ) is an American action film by Lee Madden . In the 1969 made film, the entire then charter of the Hells Angels Oakland was involved.

action

Chuck and Wes Patterson, two brothers from Los Angeles , are planning the coup of their lives. They want to clear out the Caesars Palace in Las Vegas together - just for fun and thrill, because they are wealthy, do not need the money and want to return it later. The two of them often travel by motorcycle. At a party the evening before departure, the two tell their friends that they want to go to Mexico . Disguised as rockers from Boston , the two then approach the Oakland Hells Angels. You harass a driver and provoke a small accident in which Chuck falls off the motorcycle. The rockers get this as planned and take the side of the brothers. The driver is left with a damaged car and a blown tire. Rocker bride Betsy takes care of Chuck's leg wound. They join the gang and take part in the wild life of the rocker outlaws: tours, motorcycle tricks, partying, drinking and sex. Terry the Tramp sells the young Betsy to Chuck for a packet of cigarettes . After a brawl, instigated by the Pattersons themselves, they are accepted by the Hells Angels and succeed with their proposal to set off for Las Vegas. The rocker gang is staying with Tramps aunt, just outside of Vegas. It doesn't take long for the sheriff to show up at the property. He warns the wild pack to cause trouble in the city - they are being watched closely.

Meanwhile, the two brothers rent a room in the noble Caesars Palace; the doorman wants to get rid of her because of her rocker outfit, but gives in when the two threaten to complain about the hotel.

From the hotel room, the Patterson brothers call the Angels and simulate a fight to lure them into town. Disguised as smart suits, they manage to clear the casino cash register while the Hells Angels are held up at the hotel entrance by a cordon from the police who have already been alerted. Disguised again, the two reach the rockers unnoticed and leave town with them. That same night, however, the Angels (to whom the matter of the requested assistance seems a bit strange) are tired of the brothers and ask them to leave immediately. Betsy is the only one who finds out about their plan and joins them. So far everything is going according to plan. Together with Betsy, the brothers rent motocross machines to get through the desert to Los Angeles.

Due to a mistake in the implementation of the plan (Chuck gave a hotel boy a token, but they were not seen in the casino as rockers) the police find out about the two of them. The sheriff also reports to the Hells Angels about the couple's coup. However, Sonny Barger sends the police on the wrong track. The Hells Angels decide to go after the three. Meanwhile, the two brothers get into an argument and split up. While Chuck moves on alone, Wes and Betsy try to get through the desert on their own. However, the Angels set a trap for the three and first set Chuck to his death. Then they destroy Wes' motorcycle and throw away their drinking water. Then they leave the two of them in the desert while they move on with the money themselves.

background

The dialogues in the German dubbed version were written by Rainer Brandt and are implemented in what is known as Schnodderdeutsch , the typical style for which the Bud Spencer and Terence Hill films later became known: that is, with a lot of flippant sayings were not available in the original. The film had its cinema premiere in Germany on September 27, 1970. The film was later released in Germany both as a rental video and as a laser disc . A DVD version was released in 2008 together with the films Cycle Savages , The Death Race of the Wild Angels and Run, Angel, Run

criticism

From the mass of films made after the success of Easy Rider , Hell's Angels '70 stands out above all for its authentic cast with the real rockers of the Hells Angels. Many critics also consider the German dubbing to be a plus point. Overall, however, the film is rated rather negatively. Marked Roger Greenspun , critic of the New York Times , the movie in the year it occurs "waste of time and resources, both unaesthetic and immoral" was.

"Hell's Angels 69" offers consistently good entertainment and an authentic side cast with the real Angel's boss Sonny Barger and his Oakland troupe. "

- Andreas Schulz : Splashmovies.de

"The greatest joy, however, is the German synchro of Kodderpaps Rainer Brandt, who plastered the rather pragmatic script in the original with relish and without regard to lip movements with 1001 centennial calauzes"

- Björn Lahrman : Manifesto

“Despite certain parallels to 'Easy Rider', a film with a completely different theme, which at the end surrounds its negative heroes with dangerous tragedy and also presents terror in a rather distant manner. Concerns from 18. "
