Manfred Calov

Manfred Calov (born May 15, 1929 ) is a former German politician ( SED ). For many years he was State Secretary in the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications in the GDR .

Life

After 1945 Calov was in the post office u. Telecommunications in the Soviet Zone and the GDR . He joined the SED and was 2nd Secretary of the SED's Workers' Party Organization (BPO) in the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications and personal assistant to a deputy minister. From 1960 to 1962 he acted as an instructor in the liaison sector in the traffic and liaison department of the Central Committee of the SED, from 1962 to 1972 as deputy head of the department. From 1972 to 1990 he was State Secretary in the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications in the GDR (successor to Richard Serinek ). On March 28, 1990, Calov was dismissed from his position as State Secretary and Chairman of the State Frequency Commission of the GDR by the Modrow government and took early retirement.

From 1972 he led the GDR side in the negotiations on the government agreement with the Federal Republic of Germany in the field of postal and telecommunications. In September 1973 he represented the GDR for the first time at a conference of the International Telecommunication Union in Madrid .
