Manfred Lüder

Manfred Lüder (born  November 23, 1930 in Berlin ) is a German anesthesiologist . From 1972 he acted as chief physician of the department for experimental and clinical anesthesiology at the Central Institute for Cancer Research of the Academy of Sciences of the GDR and from January 1990 to October 1991 as acting director of the institute.

Life

Manfred Lüder was born in Berlin in 1930 and began studying medicine at the Humboldt University there in 1951 , which he completed with a doctorate in 1956 . He then worked from 1957 to 1959 as part of his compulsory assistant and general practical year at the district hospital in Beeskow . In 1959 he moved to the Institute for Cancer Research of the German Academy of Sciences in Berlin, which in 1972 became the Central Institute for Cancer Research (ZIK) of the Academy of Sciences of the GDR (AdW). After his recognition as a specialist in anesthesiology in 1963 and his habilitation six years later at the University of Leipzig , he became chief physician of the department for experimental and clinical anesthesiology at the ZIK in 1972 .

The AdW also appointed him professor of anesthesiology in 1979. During the time of political change in the GDR , in January 1990, after the leave of absence of the institute director Stephan Tanneberger, he temporarily took over the management of the ZIK and the function of medical director. He was in office until the end of October 1991, Dieter Bierwolf acted as his successor until the institute was dissolved at the end of December 1991 and the Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine was re-established as a successor institution at the beginning of 1992. Manfred Lüder also headed the institute from 1984 to 1992 Committee for Safety in Anesthesia of the World Federation of Societies of Anesthesiologists . In 1995 he retired.

Awards

In 1987 Manfred Lüder received the plaque of honor from the Society for Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine of the GDR , as its president from 1979 to 1981. The Romanian Society of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine made him an honorary member in 1981.
