Manfred Wagner (politician, 1934)

Manfred W. Wagner (born January 14, 1934 in Hassel (Saar) ) is a German politician ( SPD ).

After successfully passing the final exam at the Academy of Labor at the University of Saarbrücken , Wagner worked as an industrial clerk. From 1961 to 1972 he was chairman of the works council of the Halbergerhütte , after which he became chairman of the DGB in the Saar district. In 1976 he became President of the International Trade Union Council Saarland-Lorraine-Luxembourg .

Wagner was elected to the Saarland state parliament in 1970 and became deputy parliamentary leader of the SPD there in 1972. In 1979 he moved to the European Parliament , to which he was a member until 1989.
