Manfred Zabel

Manfred Zabel (* 1938 in Hagen ) is a German Protestant theologian , social ethicist and theological anthropologist .

life and work

From 1966 to 1972 Manfred Zabel was a student pastor at the University of Applied Sciences and the University of Education in the North Rhine-Westphalian city of Siegen as well as a part-time lecturer in the general science seminars (AWS) at the engineering schools for mechanical engineering and electrical engineering, as well as construction and architecture.

Zabel received a professorship for theology in 1972 - without a dissertation or habilitation - and held the chair for social ethics and theological anthropology at the University of Siegen . He was also dean of Faculty 1 - Philosophy, Religious Studies, Social Sciences. From 1979 to 1980 he was chairman of the Evangelical Working Group on Conscientious Objection and Peace .

Zabel was a founding member of the Solidarity Church . For many years he was chairman of the Society for Christian-Jewish Cooperation eV in Siegen. Until 2014 he was a board member of the International Association for Education and Meeting in Dortmund (IBB) and is particularly active in Belarus .
