Mangghystaumunaigas (MMG) ( Russian Мангистаумунайгаз , Kazakh Маңғыстаумұнайгаз ) is a company from Kazakhstan , based in Aktau on the peninsula Mangyshlak on the Caspian Sea .

It is listed on the Kazakh Stock Exchange .

Mangghystaumunaigas produces 31 percent of the region's oil and eight percent of all Kazakh oil production . It produces at 15 oil and gas fields in Kazakhstan. In 2006, MMG's oil production was 5.7 million tons.

history

The company was founded on November 27, 1963 by decision of the Soviet leadership in western Kazakhstan under the name Mangyschlakneft . Initially, the state-owned company mined in the Schetybai oil field discovered in 1961 . In May 1995 the company went public on the Kazakh stock exchange.

In 1997, the Indonesian acquired oil company Central Asia Petroleum Ltd . a total of 99 percent of the shares of Mangghystaumunaigas. At the end of 2009, the Kazakh oil company KazMunayGas acquired 100 percent of the company's shares together with the China National Petroleum Corporation .
