Mangue Seco is a place on the border of the state of Bahia to the state of Sergipe in Brazil and belongs to the district ( Municipio ) of Jandaíra. The place is located in the delta of the Rio Real River and is 242 km from Salvador da Bahia . The place can be reached via the end point of Linha Verde .

Mangue Seco used to be a fishing village that can only be reached via a passenger boat service from the other bank of the river from Pontal in the state of Sergipe or with a buggy over the wide sandy beach at low tide from Costa Azul , which is about 30 km south . Around the place there are high shifting dunes that are considered a tourist attraction.

Since a Brazilian telenovela Tieta was filmed in this romantic fishing village about 17 years ago based on a book by Jorge Amado from TV Rede Globo , the place has achieved national fame in Brazil and this has changed the simple life of the place significantly. In addition to a few luxury hostels, there are now many guest houses and restaurants that have to cope with the onslaught during the holidays, especially the Brazilian tourists who want to visit the places of the telenovela.
