Manilal Fernando

Vernon Manilal Fernando (born October 13, 1949 in Kalutara , Sri Lanka ) is a Sri Lankan businessman and international football official.

Manilal Fernando became an Attorney at Law in 1972 and began practicing in Kalutara. Since the 1990s, he has been elected to the board of numerous international companies.

He was from 1979 to 1999 President of the Sri Lankan Football Federation ( Football Federation of Sri Lanka ). In 2011 he was elected as a member of the FIFA Executive Committee by the Asian Football Confederation .

FIFA banned him for eight years in May 2013 for violating its code of ethics. In October 2013, the ban was extended to a lifetime. He had been shown to have taken advantage and corrupted . In March 2015, the International Sports Court confirmed the lifelong ban on appeal.
