Kalutara is a small town with about 38,000 inhabitants about 35 kilometers south of Colombo . The city is located at the mouth of the Kalu Ganga River . The dagoba of a large temple complex is an important building . Pilgrims visit an offshoot of the more than 2000 year old Bodhi tree under which Buddha is said to have received his enlightenment.
