Mannes Sangesmannen are a German a cappella group in Upper Swabia .

Six former students of the Salvatorkolleg Bad Wurzach and their former music teacher have made it their task to preserve the Upper Swabian dialect and the Upper Swabian way of life through their singing. Their motto: "Schwob zum sein, isch a Verdienschd, but s'isch a grace of God, Oberschwob zum sein." (It is a merit to be Swabian; to be Oberschwabe is a grace of God)

history

Founded in 1999 on the occasion of a high school graduation ball, first engagements soon followed, including for the Ravensburg district and the state government of Baden-Württemberg. In 2000, Mannes Sangesmannen recorded their first album "Gruibaschmaus ond Ohraschmalz" . The radio station SWR4 soon became aware of the seven Upper Swabians and regularly played several of their titles in its program.

In 2001 Mannes Sangesmannen made their first appearances outside of Baden-Württemberg in, among other places, Munich, Colmar (France) and Brussels (Belgium). In 2002 her first live album “Muschdrland” was released and in 2007 the third CD “Eigweggds aufmachd. Aufgweggds eigmachd. ” Other milestones in the group's biography include the appearance at the Circus Krone Bau in Munich and the appearance in Berlin for the 60th anniversary of the Basic Law.

Honourings and prices

  • In 2003 they were the winners of the competition for the student cabaret award "Golden White Sausage".
  • In March 2004 they won the prize for the best money song at the Sparkasse's ESart competition.
  • At the Baden-Württemberg Cabaret Prize 2005, Upper Swabia took first place.

Media presence

In addition to regular print publications about Mannes Sangesmannen, Mannes Sangesmannen are regularly played in the SWR4 Baden-Württemberg program. In June 2006, SWR2 broadcast a recording of a performance as part of its cabaret series “Studio-Brettl”. SWR4, SWR1 and Radio7 reported on the release of the CDs.

Mannes Sangesmannen have already appeared on TV on several programs. a. "Alpine Christmas Customs" (SWR), documentation "From Full Breast" (SWR) and "Saturday Evening - Oberschwaben" (SWR). RegioTV reported on the appearance of Mannes Sangesmannen in October 2009 at the Circus Krone Bau in Munich.
