The Gymnasium Salvatorkolleg is a Catholic school of the Salvatorians (Society of the Divine Savior) sponsored by the Ordensschulenträgerverbunds gGmbH in Bad Wurzach in the Ravensburg district in Baden-Württemberg .
history
In 1924 a Latin school was founded in the eastern part of Bad Wurzach Castle . The castle itself was built between 1723 and 1728 by Count Ernst Jakob Truchsess von Waldburg-Zeil -Wurzach. For two centuries it was the residence of the Wurzach line of the noble family.
During the National Socialist rule in Germany, relations between denominational schools and the state deteriorated. Teaching administration was now the responsibility of the Württemberg Minister of Education and SA - Obergruppenführer Christian Mergenthaler . On November 28, 1937, the school was prohibited from accepting additional students. The other classes could still be continued. At Easter 1940 all denominational high schools in Württemberg were closed. The fathers and brothers who had not yet been drafted for military service were relocated to the neighboring rent office . From August 1940, the college was used as a prisoner of war camp by the Stuttgart military district administration . Wurzach Castle now became part of the National Socialist camp system. Over 800 Corsicans were billeted. From November 1942, the Württemberg Ministry of the Interior ordered the relocation of over 600 civilian internees from the Channel Island of Jersey to the premises of the college. The police officers took over the administration. In June 1945 around 800 Soviet prisoners who had to wait here to be transported to the Soviet Union were housed here for a few weeks.
The Salvatorkolleg reopened on November 6, 1945, making it the first school in all of Württemberg to reopen its doors after the war. In 1954 the number of students exceeded the 300 limit. In 1959 the sports hall and the outdoor area were built. In 1965 the drawing room and the adjoining music room in the attic burned, but major damage to the castle was prevented. In 1975 the new building was occupied. In June 1993 the boarding school was closed. In August 1997 the upper school moved into the castle.
Training orientation
The grammar school offers two courses as part of an eight-year grammar school.
- Linguistic high school (SG)
- Science and technology grammar school (NTG)
Promotion of the gifted
Due to an above-average potential in previous school achievements, it is possible that the student comes in the form of gifted support. To do this, however, he must submit a written application with an exposé on the reason for the course choice. Furthermore, an interview is carried out with him, in which the motives for participation are discussed against the background of other activities (leisure time, hobbies). Your own ability to differentiate and your self-assessment of your performance are also in view.
