The Manning Lagoon is a 5 km long lagoon on the south coast of Heard Island in the southern Indian Ocean . It is located in the immediate vicinity of Long Beach on Cape Labuan .
The lagoon is named after John Manning, the chief geodesist of the Australian Division of National Mapping , who was involved in the survey of Heard in 1980 .
