Manoliki Tashev
Manoliki Taschew (also written Manoliki Tashev , Bulgarian Манолаки Ташев ; * 1835 in Sofia ; † June 8, 1878 ibid) was a Bulgarian businessman, politician and in 1878 the first mayor of Sofia.
Manoliki Taschew was born in 1835 into a wealthy merchant family. He first learned from Sawa Filaretow in his hometown and studied economics in Vienna. When the Russian general Gurko (1828-1901) liberated Sofia on January 4, 1878 during the Russo-Turkish War, on January 10, Manoliki Taschew was appointed the first mayor of Sofia. His mandate includes the introduction of gas lantern lighting in the streets, the establishment of the fire brigade and the appointment of the commission for the development of the first development plan under Adolf Kolar . He held his post until June 8 of the same year when he suddenly passed away.
