Manolo Castro (saxophonist)
Manolo Castro was a Cuban jazz - saxophonist .
Castro began his career as a silent film musician and performed in casinos in Havana . In addition to Froylán Maya , Armando Romeu and others, he later belonged to the band of the pianist Rogelio Barba . He founded his own band with his brothers Antonio (trombone), Juan (piano) and Andres (trumpet). With the addition of another trumpeter, violinist, bassist, singer and drummer, the Hermanos Castro are Cuba’s first big band . From 1929 they appeared as The Catro Brothers in New York .
