Manolo Ty (born July 11, 1985 in Hagen ) is a German photographer and artist. He is best known for his social documentary photographs and portraits .

Life

Manolo Ty grew up in Hagen, on the edge of the Ruhr area. He lived and worked in Bangkok, Cologne and Budapest and is currently settled in Berlin .

In his pictures, Ty addresses the threat to traditions and the environment, but also the beauty of everyday life.

In the past ten years he has traveled to more than one hundred countries around the world. Ty used his camera to capture local life to document the relationship between people and their surroundings. He wants to stimulate intercultural dialogue and encourage people to break new ground.

His works have been shown in more than 60 exhibitions around the world.

In addition to his work in the social documentary field, Manolo Ty has already published pictures in well-known publications. He also works on documentary film projects for the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Pakistan, where he works as a consultant.

In February 2017 Manolo Ty's first book "Pakistan Now" was published, an illustrated book that shows the social life of the people in Pakistan and their culture through the ages in over 200 photographs. With his new perspective on the country, he received a lot of national and international attention.

In September 2018 Dumont Reiseverlag publishes the extended new edition of "Pakistan Now", in which new aspects, regions and people from the South Asian country are brought into focus.
