Cuff (technique)
A cuff is usually a sheath for protection, stabilization , separation or measurement of an object or a part of the body. It can also be used as a sleeve seal to connect two systems for sealing.

A Velcro fastener and / or stretchable materials, e.g. B. rubber, are used. Cuffs can also be inflatable.
Examples
- Protection: in the car e.g. B. as an axle boot
- Stabilization: as a bandage on the knee
- Separation: rubber sleeve in the washing machine
- Pressure measurement: measuring arterial pressure with the help of a blood pressure cuff.
- Fire protection : component made of material that swells in the event of a fire in order to seal off pipe penetrations through ceilings and walls for fire protection purposes
