Cour train

The cour train is a train introduced into courtly ceremonial clothing by Napoleon Bonaparte in the 19th century , which was hung in the band of the chemise dress running just below the chest or provided with sleeves that could be slipped into (hence the French name manteau de cour , which means "court coat “Means). In contrast to the light clothing fabrics of the empire, the cour train was made of heavy, often richly embroidered fabric and was part of the courtly gala attire of women until the First World War .
