A prelate in Mantelletta

The Mantelletta is a knee-length, open-front, sleeveless cloak made of silk or fine woolen material worn by dignitaries of the Roman Curia as part of the choral clothing over the Rochett . The color of the mantelletta is determined by the ecclesiastical rank of its wearer and the liturgical occasion for which it is worn.

Since 1969, its use has been reserved for a few Roman prelates .
