Manthia Diawara

Manthia Diawara (born December 19, 1953 in Bamako ) is a Malian filmmaker , cultural theorist , art historian and professor.

life and work

Manthia Diawara lived in Guinea until 1964 . He received his Ph.D. in 1985. at Indiana University . Diawara was a professor at the University of Pennsylvania , the University of California, Santa Barbara and later professor of comparative literature and film studies at New York University . He is also the director of the Institute for African-American Affairs at New York University.
