Manuel Nájera (born December 20, 1952 ) is a former Mexican soccer player who acted in defense .

His career began probably the club zacatepec , where he is said to have been a source said that from 1971 to 1973 under contract, while the RSSSF him on his international debut on 12 October 1972 against Costa Rica: one belonging to the (3 1) Club Jalisco ascribes . He then played for Puebla FC before moving to Universidad de Guadalajara in 1975 . In the club's history he was the only active Mexican national player . After four years, he moved to local rivals Jalisco for the 1979/80 season before moving to the north of the country in 1980, where he spent the last three years of his professional career at CF Monterrey .

The high point of his national team career was in 1977, when he played eight international matches over the full distance of 90 minutes. These games, with an impressive record of six wins and two draws, included a 5-1 runaway win against Yugoslavia and a 2-2 win against reigning world champions Germany, as well as four wins in the CONCACAF final group against Haiti (4-1), El Salvador (3: 1), Guatemala (2: 1) and Canada (3: 1), which made it possible to qualify for the 1978 World Cup . Although Nájera was part of Mexico's World Cup squad , it was not used. In this respect, the qualifying game against Canada on October 22, 1977 was also his last international match.
