Manuel Jorge de Elías (born June 5, 1939 in Mexico City ) is a Mexican composer.

Elías received training from his father Alfonso de Elías and Luis Herrera de la Fuente as well as from Karlheinz Stockhausen and Jean-Etienne Marie, and studied at the Conservatory and the University of Mexico. In 1970 he was one of the founders of the group of composers for new music Grupo Proa . In 1980 he founded the Veracruz Symphony Orchestra . From 1984 to 1986 he was artistic director of the chamber orchestra of the National Institute of Fine Arts. In 1987 he became conductor of the Guadalajara Symphony Orchestra and in 1988 founded the Jalisco Symphony Orchestra . From 1991 to 1993 he was the coordinator for music and opera at the National Institute of Fine Arts. Among other things, he is a member of the Academia de Artes .

In addition to symphonic and chamber music works, he also composed pieces for electronic music and tape.
