history

The Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows News was founded in 1978 as a free publication under the name '' Local News '' and has been part of the Black Community Newspaper Group since January 1997.

The then publisher Gordon Robson expanded the newspaper in 1985 with the publication of The Sunday News, so that it now appeared twice a week instead of once. He extended the circulation area to the western communities and thus laid the foundation for two further formats, the Tri-City News and the Burnaby / New Westminster News Leader .
