María Jiménez

María Jiménez Gallego (born February 3, 1950 in Seville ) is a Spanish singer who became famous in the first years of Spanish democracy after the Franco dictatorship. She currently lives in Chiclana de la Frontera .

biography

Jiménez was born in Triana , a district of Seville . Her little sister Isabel was born in 1955. In the fledgling Spanish democracy , after the long dictatorship of Francisco Franco, she began to sing in smaller Sevillian bars like Las Brujas. Their first daughter María del Rocío, who was born in 1968, was killed in a car accident on January 7, 1985 at the age of 17. On June 1, 1980, María Jiménez married the actor Pepe Sancho in the Santa Ana Church in Seville. Their son Alejandro Asunción Martínez Jiménez was born on February 16, 1983. Jiménez and Sancho divorced in 1984, but remarried two years later in Costa Rica after the tragic death of María del Rocío .
