Maralinga meteorite

The Maralinga meteorite was discovered in 1974, but only recognized as a meteorite in 1989 .

He was found 35 kilometers from Maralinga in South Australia . The weathered stone weighed 3.38 kilograms. It was classified as a stone meteorite , as a metamorphic carbonic chondrite (CK4 type), although it has strong similarities to the CV types.

The meteorite contains 47% porphyry olivine , 20% granular olivine, 15% porphyry olivine pyroxene , 9% lattice-shaped olivine, 2% radially arranged olivine and 3% objects made of calcium and aluminum .
