Marananga is a small village in the Barossa Valley , which lies between Tanunda and Seppeltsfield in South Australia about 70 km from Adelaide .

The place was formerly called Gnadenfrei and was founded by German immigrants of the Lutheran faith between 1845 and 1850. The place was closely connected with Tanunda.

There are wineries, a restaurant and a motel around the village. The town is dominated by the Lutheran Church of St. Michael from 1880, which is located on Seppeltfield Road .

The place was renamed at the time of the First World War in 1917.
