Marathon Foundation

The Marathon Foundation is a non-profit foundation under civil law with its registered office in Benediktbeuern, which is recognized as a foundation for promoting youth welfare and education .

The purpose of the foundation is to provide financial support for charitable projects for children and young people in Africa , which are carried out in the sponsorship or in cooperation with the Salesians of Don Bosco . The foundation is particularly concerned with promoting school, university and vocational training for young disadvantaged people, as education is seen as the key in the fight against poverty and disadvantage and in the fight against exploitation, disease and crime.

The basic idea of ​​the foundation is that marathon runners, but also other running enthusiasts of short and long distances, have their run sponsored by relatives, acquaintances and friends and that the money collected in this way is made available to young people in Africa.

The pilot project is entitled “START”, while the first aid project, a scholarship fund, has the motto “From the street to the university”.

At the moment the focus of the foundation is in Ghana .
