On January 15, 2012, Amann took part in the FIS race in Lackenhof am Ötscher and took second place. A year later, he won the bronze medal in the SDHJ class at the 2013 World Speed Ski Championships in Vars . On April 17th, he made his debut in the Speed Ski World Cup in Verbier , coming straight off to fourth place and eleventh place at the Speed Masters. In his second season in 2014 he won the first day of the second World Cup station in Pas de la Casa and at the end of the season he finished seventh in the overall World Cup ranking. At his second World Speed Ski Championships in 2015 in Pas de la Casa, he won the gold medal in the SDHJ class.
In 2016, Amann started in the men's speed downhill class for the first time. This season he finished third at the Speed Ski World Cup in Vars with his personal top speed of 185.660 km / h. On the "Chocken" piste in Idre Fäll, he took second place in the World Cup and the bronze medal at the World Championships in March 2017. On April 7, 2017, Amann finished second in the Speed Ski World Cup in Andorra. Two days later he did the same thing again on the same route.
