Marc Andre Matten
Marc Andre Matten (born January 26, 1978 in Marl ) is a German sinologist .
Life
Marc A. Matten studied Sinology, Japanology and Economics at the Universities of Bonn , Jilin and Waseda . In 2007 he received his doctorate from the University of Bonn with his dissertation The Limits of Chinese (Harrassowitz) , which was awarded the Martin Behaim Prize of the Society for Overseas History in 2009. Marc A. Matten has been Professor of Contemporary Chinese History at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg since 2009 . His research interests are the history of political ideas in modern China, the history of concepts in East Asia, nationalism and national identity, and transnational knowledge transfer during the Cold War .
