Marc Beutner (* the thirtieth March 1971 in Hilden , Germany) is a German business educator and holder of the Chair in Business Education II with the alignment Business Education and Evaluation Research at the University of Paderborn .

biography

After graduating from high school, Beutner completed an apprenticeship as a banker from 1990 to 1993. He then worked in the context of community service in the care of the severely disabled before gaining professional experience in the banking sector. From the winter semester 1994 he studied economics at the economics and social science faculty of the University of Cologne . There he studied business education for a diploma and teaching degree in economics upper secondary level with special business studies in the fields of banking and business organization at the University of Cologne. He completed his studies after eight semesters in September 1998 as a certified business teacher . During his studies, from 1996 to 1997 he worked as a student assistant at the seminar for general business administration and organizational theory and from 1997 to 1998 as a student assistant at Martin Twardy 's Institute for Vocational Economic and Social Pedagogy . There he was active in supporting research projects, in the course of which his diploma thesis on requirements for internships and mobility abroad was created. From 1998 to 2003, Beutner worked as a research assistant at Martin Twardy's chair for economic and social education. In February 2001 he received his doctorate. rer. pole. with a study and model development on willingness to train with the title: Willingness to train in small and medium-sized enterprises. A business education study to determine the determinants of willingness to train .

From 2003 to 2008, Beutner was Academic Councilor at the Institute for Vocational, Economic and Social Pedagogy at the University of Cologne, where he independently took on lectures and implemented his own research ideas in projects, such as FAMOS - specialist for mobile services or LearnART - multimedia learning units for active and reactive use in physician assistant training .

After a substitute professorship for educational sciences with a focus on professional education in 2007 and 2008 at the Faculty of Cultural Studies at the University of Paderborn, he was appointed to the Chair of Business Education II with focus on business education and evaluation research on October 1, 2008, which he has held since then.

Since 2008 he has also been on the board of directors of the PLAZ, the Paderborn Teacher Training Center: ' Center for Educational Research and Teacher Training '.
After he was initially responsible for the area of ​​vocational training as Vice Director, he has also been responsible for the internationalization of teacher training at PLAZ since 2018.

Beutner is married and has four children.

Research priorities

Beutner is active in vocational training, adult education , youth education (youth education in society and science) and in higher education.

His research can essentially be assigned to the research areas of (a) digitization and learning with new media, (b) European educational projects and comparative business education, (c) institutions and transitional systems in vocational training, and (d) instruments and framework conditions for company and school education .

His main research interests include the areas of evaluation and evaluation research , e-learning - m-learning - blended learning ( integrated learning ), European and international educational projects , entrepreneurship education, curriculum development and (subject) didactic analyzes, training course development and design as well as studies of company and school Educational offers at the micro, meso and macro level.

In his research, Beutner uses and combines qualitative and quantitative research designs as well as design-based research and evaluation-based research.
