Marc Guillemot (born June 25, 1959 in Quimper ) is a French sailor who has successfully participated in long distance regattas.

Guillemot began his ocean racing career on ORMA ( Ocean Racing Multihull Association ) 60-foot trimarans. 1995-1999 he was able to achieve rankings just next to the podium in several participations in transatlantic races such as the Transat Jacques Vabre or the Route du Rhum , but had to give up several times.

In 2002 he finally became vice world champion of the ORMA World Cup. Two years later he switched to 60-foot IMOCA monohull racing yachts of the Open 60 type . As of 2006, Guillemot was a member of the racing team sponsored by the technology company Safran . Accordingly, the boats he sailed were also called saffron . In 2007 and 2008 he achieved further successes in this largest monohull class. In 2008 he was runner-up again, this time with the monohull.

In 2009, Guillemot was awarded the Ordre national du Mérite in gratitude for his help during the Vendée Globe 2008/2009 when his competitor Yann Éliès broke his thigh and had to be evacuated.

In 2013 he set the record for a one-handed transatlantic voyage from New York to Lizard Point with the yacht Safran . At 8 days, 20 hours, 27 minutes and 49 seconds, he was more than 15 hours faster than Alex Thomson before .
