Marc Lange

Marc Lange (* 1963 ) is an American philosopher who deals with the philosophy of science and especially the philosophy of physics and mathematics.

From 1981, Lange studied philosophy at Princeton University with a bachelor's degree in 1985 with David Lewis (Thesis: Newcomb's problem and causal decision theory ). From 1985 he continued his studies at the University of Pittsburgh with a master’s degree in 1988 and a doctorate in 1990 with Robert Brandom ( The Design of Scientific Practice ). From 1990 to 1997 he was an Assistant Professor at the University of California, Los Angeles , then Assistant Professor, Associate Professor and Professor at the University of Washington and from 2003 Professor at the University of North Carolina . He has headed the philosophy faculty since 2011 and has been Theda Purdue Distinguished Professor since 2012 .
