Marc Uyttendaele

Marc Uyttendaele (* 1961 ) is a Belgian legal scholar. Uyttendaele is a professor at the Université Libre de Bruxelles and the owner of a law firm in Brussels. He is also an essayist, novelist, and columnist for the bimonthly Gentleman . He specializes in constitutional issues, for which he has written several books. At the same time, he is frequently questioned by the media about current political events and comments in Le Soir .

He intervened on behalf of the Belgian state and various federal bodies in very mediatized judicial cases. He represented the Burmese plaintiffs against TotalFinaElf on the basis of the law on universal competence, whereupon the Belgian judiciary declared that it was not responsible. In 2007 he and his colleague Laurent Kennes represented the families of the ten paratroopers who were massacred in Kigali on April 7, 1994 .

He is married to the socialist ex-minister Laurette Onkelinx .
