Le Soir ( Evening ) is a 1887 founded Belgian daily newspaper in French . Its first edition appeared on December 17, 1887. Since November 15, 2005, it has been in the Berlin format, i. H. with pages 470 millimeters long and 320 millimeters wide, like the Berliner Zeitung , printed in Nivelles .

It offers five different regional parts: Brussels , Walloon Brabant , Hainaut , Liège , Namur - Luxembourg .

She is a founding member of the Leading European Newspaper Alliance (LENA), in which she is currently working with the daily newspapers Die Welt , the Italian La Repubblica , El País from Spain, Le Figaro from France, the Swiss Tages-Anzeiger and Tribune de Genève in the international Reporting collaborates and cooperates editorially.

On April 12, 2015, the newspaper was so severely attacked by hackers that the newspaper's website was inaccessible for hours. The attackers were able to break through the firewall, and to prevent the attack from spreading, Le Soir had deactivated its website itself. The internal computer system was restored and the newspaper appeared normally on the following Monday. A few days earlier, the broadcasting of the French-language television station TV5 Monde (program of the public broadcasters in France, Belgium, Switzerland and Canada) had been paralyzed, and the television group's website had been equipped with Islamist propaganda. Who is responsible for the attack on Le Soir could not be clarified.

Le Soir is a member of the European Investigative Collaboration (EIC).
