Bernardino de Vecchi

Bernardino de Vecchi (born June 28, 1699 in Siena , † December 24, 1775 in Rome ) was a cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church . He is also listed as Bernardino de'Vecchi , Bernardino De Vecchis, and as Bernardinus de Vechiis .

Life

Bernardino de Vecchi was the great-grandson of a cousin of Pope Alexander VII named Alessandro Marsili, through whom de Vecchi was related to the Farnese family; and Marsili's wife, who came from the Bichi family, he was also descended from the Piccolomini and Petrucci families.

Pope Pius VI created the priest and dean of the clergy of the Apostolic Chamber de Vecchi in the consistory of April 24, 1775 as cardinal and appointed him on May 29, 1775 cardinal deacon of San Cesareo in Palatio .

De Vecchi died on Sunday, December 24th, 1775 around nine o'clock in the evening in Rome after a serious illness. He was laid out in the Servite Church of San Marcello , where the funeral ceremony took place on Thursday, December 28th. His body was transferred to the church of Santa Caterina di Siena a strada Giulia and buried there.
