Marc van Oostendorp

Marc van Oostendorp (born December 15, 1967 ) is a Dutch linguist and professor at the University of Leiden . He deals with phonology (especially micro-variation), dialectology and interlinguistics .

When van Oostendorp became Associate Professor of Esperanto and Interlinguistics at the University of Amsterdam in 1997 , he was the country's youngest professor. Since 1999 he has worked at the Meertens Instituut in Amsterdam, and since 2007 he has also been a professor at the University of Leiden.

Van Oostendorp works for the renowned specialist magazine Onze Taal as well as the email information service Taalpost about language and Dutch in particular. He is interested in the popularization of linguistic knowledge and has, among other things, written instructions for building private homepages (1996).
