Marcel Benoist

Marcel Benoist (* 1864 in Paris ; † August 10, 1918 there ) was a French lawyer .

He bequeathed his fortune to Switzerland to the foundation of the Swiss Science Prize Marcel Benoist . According to his will, the prize should be awarded annually "to that Swiss scholar or scholar domiciled in Switzerland who made the most useful scientific invention, discovery or study during the year that is particularly important for human life". In addition to his fortune, he also bequeathed his art collection and library to Switzerland. The former is now in the Villa Mon Repos in Lausanne , the book collection has been integrated into the Lausanne city archive.
