Marcel Cressot
Marcel Cressot (born January 31, 1896 , † June 18, 1961 ) was a French Romance philologist and stylist.
life and work
Cressot was Agrégé de lettres. He completed his habilitation with the two theses La phrase et le vocabulaire de J.-K. Huysmans. Contribution à l'histoire de la langue française pendant le dernier quart du XIXe siècle (Paris 1938, Geneva 1975) and Vocabulaire des Quinze Joies de Mariage d'après le texte de la 2nde édition de la Bibliothèque Elzévirienne de 1857 (Paris 1939, Geneva 1974) and became professor of French (also dean) at Nancy University .
