Marcel Gendron was a French entrepreneur and racing car driver .

Gendron et Compagnie

In 1910, Marcel Gendron founded Gendron et Compagnie together with Marcel Michelot , a company that manufactured transmissions , rear axles and steering columns for automobiles . In 1922, the company began producing its own vehicles, which were sold under the brand name GM. In 1927 , Michelot had a fatal accident during a test drive in the run-up to the Le Mans 24-hour race . In 1928 the production of automobiles ended and the company was dissolved.

Racing career

Marcel Gendron is the racing driver with the longest time span between two Le Mans starts. 25 years passed between the first and second race. In 1925 he drove a GM GC2 from their own production together with the aviation pioneer Lucien Bossoutrot . The race ended prematurely after 36 laps. In 1950 he registered a Renault 4CV , which he drove in the race with partner Jean Vinatier senior ( Jean Vinatier's father ). This time problems with the ignition stopped the race prematurely.

He also dropped out at the 1926 Guipúzcoa Grand Prix .
