Marcel Magniez

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Marcel Magniez (* 1888 in Rouen , France , † after 1952) was a French film architect .

Live and act

The Rouen-born Magniez had attended the art academy in his hometown and then went to the theater as a draftsman. He made his first contact with film as early as 1914 and initially worked for the production company Gaumont . For a short time he also worked for the Portuguese film in Lisbon .

Magniez was a busy production designer for three decades before retiring at 65. Despite a certain talent, he was often only used in less important productions. Only Marcel L'Herbier's productions "Das Glück" and "La nuit fantastique", where he worked with his Belgian colleague René Moulaert , challenged Marcel Magniez as an artist. In 1953 he disappeared from the public eye.
