Marcel Wyss (director)

Marcel Wyss (born July 13, 1978 in Bern , Switzerland ) is a Swiss author , film director and film editor . With his film After the Fall , he won, among other things, the prize for the best Swiss young short film 2005 (Suissimage / SSA), the Bern Film Prize 2005 and the prize for the best documentary film at the Curtocircuito international short film festival in Santiago de Compostela.

Life

After elementary school at the school in Spiegel b. In Bern, Wyss attended a 10th school year at the WBK in Köniz and then completed an apprenticeship as a machine draftsman / designer at Haenni und Cie AG in Jegenstorf. After completing his apprenticeship, he completed further training as an ASM apprentice trainer and worked in this profession for a year. In 2000, contrary to his previous training, he decided to take the technical vocational diploma instead of the technical diploma. He tried to turn his long-standing hobby into a calling. He was then admitted to the Lucerne University of Art and Design, specializing in visual communication / video. He financed his studies with bar jobs and other odd jobs e.g. B. as a shoe seller at Olmo Shoes in Bern, auxiliary electrician, auxiliary painter, auxiliary window fitter. In 2005 he graduated with his diploma film After the Fall as the best of his year and was awarded the Zeugin Design Prize for it. In 2006 he met producers of the same age, David Fonjallaz and Louis Mataré from the production company Lomotion AG. Two months later, a one-time collaboration resulted in an employment relationship that enabled him to continue making his own documentaries. A year later he became a member of the board of directors and worked on projects as a writer, director and editor.
