Marcin Wojciech Libicki (born February 2, 1939 in Poznań ) is a Polish art historian and former politician of the right-wing conservative PiS party .

Libicki was a member of the Polish Parliament several times (1991–93, 1997–2001, 2001–2004), where he was a member of the Committee on European Affairs from 2001 onwards. From 1998 to 2001 he was also Vice President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe . From 1989 to 2000 he was a member of the ZChN and after the party change from 2002 to 2009 he was a member of the party executive and program council of the PiS.

In 2003, Libicki became an observer in the European Parliament in order to prepare for joining the EU in 2004 together with other Central and Eastern European parliamentarians . In the 2004 European elections , the first in which Poland participated, Libicki himself entered parliament. The PiS joined the right-wing conservative parliamentary group Union for a Europe of Nations (UEN); Libicki became chairman of the Parliament's Committee on Petitions .

On April 9, 2009, Libicki left the PiS in protest over the cancellation of his candidacy for the 2009 European elections .

Marcin Libicki is a member of the Order of Malta . He has a son, Jan Filip Libicki , who is himself a member of the Polish Parliament.

According to the new research of the Institute for National Remembrance (IPN), Libicki was registered in the documents of the Polish Security Service as a contact person of the 1st department of the Ministry of Interior. Libicki denied this allegation and stated that he made statements on the matter three times which were not disputed.
