Marco Affronte

Marco Affronte (born May 6, 1965 in Rimini ) is an Italian politician ( M5S , Verdi ). He was a member of the European Parliament from 2014 to 2019 .

Life

Affronte completed a degree in natural sciences at the University of Bologna , which he graduated in 1992. He also obtained a diploma as an environmental consultant in 1994 and a master's degree in environmental education in 2001 . From 1997 to 2011 he worked as a scientific officer at the Fondazione Cetacea , which is committed to the protection of whales and turtles in the Adriatic . From 2011 to 2013 he was a lecturer in marine biology at the Aula del Mare in Ancona and mathematics teacher at a state secondary school in Santarcangelo di Romagna . From 2012 he worked as a freelance in the areas of scientific advice and science communication.

In the European elections in 2014 , he was on the list of Movimento 5 Stelle (M5S; "Five Star Movement") in the European Parliament elected. There he is a member of the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety , the Fisheries Committee , the delegation to the EU-Turkey Joint Parliamentary Committee and the delegation for the EU-Albania Stabilization and Association Parliamentary Committee. In January 2017, Affronte moved from the Europe of Freedom and Direct Democracy Group (to which the MEPs of the Five Star Movement belonged) to the Greens / EFA Group . In February 2019 he joined the Federazione dei Verdi . For the 2019 European elections , he ran on the Europa Verde list , but was not re-elected.
