Marcos Saback (Marcos Cezar Silva Saback; born June 17, 1971 in Salvador da Bahia ) is a Brazilian guitarist .

Career

Saback began learning the guitar at the age of 11 and was heavily influenced by local music and local rhythms.

In 1988 he enrolled at the Escola de Música of the Universidade Federal da Bahia to study classical guitar with the Italian master Leonardo Viccenzo Boccia.

In 1989, at the age of 16, he took part in the “Young Instrumentalists in Bahia” competition. He received the “Discovery of Competition” award. In the same year he joined the UFB guitar orchestra as first guitar.

In 1990 he met the Spanish guitarist Paco de Lucía . From him he learned new techniques and received in-depth advice on his studies in flamenco music. In 1993 he traveled to Europe for the first time at the invitation of the percussionist of the group of Paco de Lucía, Ruben Dantas. There he was able to intensify his studies on flamenco guitar with the Roma guitarist Antón Gimenez. From 1994 he developed an independent repertoire with which he returned to Latin American music. He integrated different rhythms such as Samba , Choro , Bossa-Nova and Baião as well as Latin American rhythms such as Rumba , Merengue , Guaguancó . In 1998 he released the album "Calamares" with nine original compositions.

In 2000 he went on tour in Europe with the “Marcos Saback Group”. a. in Germany and Spain. In 2005 he released his second album "Magia Latina" with ten original compositions, with which he returned to his Latin American roots. In 2006 he recorded “Invierno en Frankfurt” in Frankfurt, a homage to Brazilian composers. In 2008 he released his first DVD parallel to an album on “De volta a Bahia”. In 2011 he produced his second DVD "Marcos Saback Live in Teatro Castro Alves"
