The Blava is a 47.5 km long river in western Slovakia and a tributary of the Dudváh .
Surname
The river's name was the first time in 1113 as aqua Blavva mentioned in writing.
Today the name Blava is not officially standardized, instead the names Horná Blava (from the source to the mouth of the Horný Dudváh) and Dolná Blava (for the arm that flows into the Dolný Dudváh) are used.
Horná Blava
The river has its source in a karst spring in the Little Carpathians northwest of Dobrá Voda and flows generally in a south-southeast direction through Dechtice , where it reaches the Trnavská pahorkatina , Kátlovce , Radošovce , Jaslovské Bohunice , Malženice and Bučany . There the arm Dolná Blava branches off to the right and flows shortly afterwards into the Horný Dudváh.
The largest tributary is the right-hand Dubovský potok .
Dolná Blava
After the junction to the south, the Dolná Blava flows past the eastern edge of the towns of Brestovany , Dolné Lovčice and Zavar , before it meets the Dolný Dudváh near Križovany nad Dudváhom . The only major tributary is the Krupský potok near Dolné Lovčice.
