Marcus Alexandre
Marcus Alexandre Médici Aguiar Viana da Silva , more commonly known as Marcus Médici or by the first name Marcus Alexandre , (born June 13, 1977 in Ribeirão Preto , State of São Paulo ) is a Brazilian politician. He is a member of the Labor Party (PT), was prefect of Rio Branco and is his party's gubernatorial candidate in the 2018 gubernatorial elections for the state of Acre .
Life
Marcus Alexandre Marcus studied civil engineering at the Universidade Estadual de São Paulo . In 1999 he relocated to the state of Acre. He is married to Gicélia Viana da Silva Médici Aguiar, with whom he has three sons.
Political career
From 2007 to 2012 he was general director of the Departamento de Estradas de Rodagem, Infraestrutura Hidroviária e Aeroportuária do Acre (Deracre), which helped him in the election of mayor in the local elections in Brazil in 2012 , which he received with just under 50.77% of the valid votes won in the runoff election. In the 2016 local elections , he was re-elected against his opponent Eliane Sinhasique with 54.87% of the valid votes . During his first term in office, he advocated investments in city improvements, including reducing bus fares, modernizing popular buildings in Rio Branco, building new health facilities and kindergartens, and expanding the path system. The city had grown by 65,000 residents since 2010 and exceeded the 400,000 mark by the end of his tenure.
On April 6, 2018, he resigned to run for the gubernatorial election in Acre 2018, where he was part of the Coalition Frente Popular do Acre (FPA) consisting of the parties PT, PDT, PCdoB, PSOL, PRB, PODE, PROS, PSB, PRP, PV, PHS, PRTB, DC, PPL and PMB is supported. His successor in the mayor's office was his Vice Prefect Socorro Neri .
