Marcus Censorius Paullus

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Marcus Censorius Paullus was a Roman politician and senator in the 2nd century AD

With regard to the name Censorius, Paullus came from a Celtic province. It is attested in an inscription from Limonum Pictonum , where he built a tomb for his late wife Claudia Varenilla, daughter of the consular Claudius Varenus, as a legacy of the province of Aquitania ; he was appointed consul while he was still governor .

Through military diplomas , e.g. Some of them are dated September 5 and 23, 160, it is documented that Paullus 160 was a suffect consul with Gaius Prastina Pacatus ; the two consuls presumably took office on July 1st of that year. His name is also partially preserved in the Fasti Ostienses .
