Mareike Kunter

Mareike Kunter (* 1972 ) is a German psychologist and university professor at the Leibniz Institute for Educational Research and Educational Information and at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main .

Career

Kunter studied psychology at the University of Würzburg . From 2001 to 2002 she worked as a research assistant in the PISA project. In 2004 she received her doctorate from the Free University of Berlin . She then worked from 2004 to 2010 as a research assistant at the Max Planck Institute for Human Development in Berlin. In the COACTIV project, she researched the specialist knowledge of mathematics teachers in secondary education. In 2008 she completed her habilitation at the Free University of Berlin.

Since 2010 she has been professor for educational psychology at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main .

Since May 2020 she has been director of the Department of Educational Quality and Evaluation at the Leibniz Institute for Educational Research and Educational Information and is also a professor for empirical educational research with a focus on professional educational activity at Goethe University Frankfurt .

Kunter is one of the 43 signatories of the "Commentary on the ad hoc statement of the National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina", which points to the high potential for children, families and women due to the closure of toddler care during the Corona crisis .

research

Kunter is an education researcher and deals with learning and teaching models in the school context. She researches the factors that improve the development and motivation of students to learn , but also which competencies teachers need to design successful and motivating lessons and how these competencies change over the years.

Another research area at Kunter is the training of teachers. She is interested in how they can be well prepared for teaching. In addition, she also examines what influence changes in the training concept e.g. B. on the quality of teacher training, but also on educational equity.
